----Don´t let its first 5 minutes discourage you... this cartoon is at least AS GOOD as its predecessor!!!!!!!---

(((Note: I will reveal some things from this episode and a few upcoming ones, but as usual, I will try to keep my spoilers as low as possible.))))

Even when I think that this series is good enough to have fans that are totally new to these cartoons, I assume that most of us had already seen its predecessor Avatar: The Last Airbender; the cartoon that told us the story of Aang, the previous incarnation of the Avatar, before watching this new series of adventures.

I want to point out that its first five minutes resulted discouraging as at the moment of seeing the attitude and behavior of Korra, one tends to think that she is nothing like Aang was and that this cartoon probably is not going to be a worthy successor of the one of Aang´s , nevertheless, the story soon makes us understand that if Korra does not have quite the personality and seriousness that would make her a good Avatar that is in high proportion because her masters are also not acting in a very worthy way, they seem too comfortable and intransigent in their positions and not concerned about the development of the world around them as they should. Also there are some elements that could make us think that more than a continuation, this would be more like a remake as some things look too similar to the cartoon it span-off from, but again the story soon shows that it has new interesting elements of its own and we see a REPUBLIC CITY that seems to be a hybrid of the old cities were Aang and his friends lived and more or less our world in the middle 50´s or early 60´s judging by the fact that they already have radios that are rather small, which could only happen with the implementation of transistors , or at least that is the way history has told us it happened.

One of the main things that these first episodes do is to introduce us to some of the descendants of the characters we knew from "The Legend of Aang", having for example, a police officer, descendant of one of Aang´s greatest allies that gives the appearance that unlike her mother, this woman will be a villain. We also meet the one who is supposed to be Korra´s windbending sensei and who is a descendant of Aang and Katara with Katara being a character that is still around. Talking specifically about the character of Katara, I would have liked her to have a different personality given the fact that she is now like 50 years older than the Katara we met before, and it would have been more interesting to see the way she changed along the years, but it was ok too listening to her behaving exactly how we would have expected her to do.

So far this cartoon seems potentially as interesting and entertaining as the LEGEND OF AANG, but we must make a small effort to understand that unlike Aang, Korra started with a bending different than AIR and her personality seems to have this one as the element of Chinese Philosophy that is more different to her.

9 Stars out of ten for this first episode!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading.
