A Profile of 'The Red Shoes' (2000)

*** 1/2 (out of 4)

Highly entertaining twenty-minute documentary that takes a look at the making of THE RED SHOES. Jack Cardiff, Ian Christie, Andrew Macdonald and Kevin Macdonald are just a few of the people that are interviewed here as they discuss the making of the picture, the various troubles that were faced and why the film turned out to be what many consider one of the greatest ever made. If you're a fan of THE RED SHOES then you'll certainly enjoy this documentary. At just twenty-minutes the documentary does a very good job at breaking down the subject and we're given some very good stories about the production and the hardships that happened to try and get it on the screen. The short running time might make some think that there's not going to be much here but thankfully a lot of ground is covered.
