Sense8: Death Doesn't Let You Say Goodbye (2015)
Season 1, Episode 9
Melodramatic rubbish
3 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
You know those Walking Dead "breather" episodes that show characters overcoming difficult points in their lives, with poetic dialogue, long shots of their faces and calm music in the background intended to make it look artful, but really we all know it's filler? This feels just like that. This episode feels like it wants to say something deep, but it doesn't know quite what. All of the messages contained within it are nothing new, messages I'm so used to from watching the Walking Dead, and the incredibly slow pace makes it look like it thinks it's being much cleverer than it actually is.

In overly dramatic scenes, Lito tries to get over his breakup. He tells Nomi how amazing it was to give Hernando oral sex in an almost holy way. Later, he collapses and rolls around the floor crying in what can only be described as a truly embarrassing scene.

There ARE somethings positive. Nomi's flashback is painful in how it shows the merciless bullying endured. And Riley has great moments. We learn about the connections between the sensates and why Riley should never love Will as well as further information about BPO. This further complicates things and establishes Whisper as a creepy villain.

Overall though, disappointing and pretentious episode. I understand this show aims to say lots of things about humanity and getting over loss, but if it wants to do that it has to say something new or examine something old in a new way. It's not enough to simply show people being sad and crying.
