Hanging on to Youth

This is pretty funny. First one must look at the ethereal nature of slang. A couple of kids are in the first part. They may as well have lived during the Civil War. Their running commentary is hilarious. I'm sure current slang will be every bit as dated. The kids remind Alice of her fleeting youth and she tells Ralph that she misses doing things they used to do. The main part of the episode takes place at a roller-skating rink where Jackie Gleason shows off his wonderful comedic versatility. He is dressed like a 1920's college student. It's hilarious from beginning to end. There is a nice message built into it as well. Everything is so dated, but it doesn't matter. I was a little kid in 1955 and remember how some of the older kids acted. One character is Ronnie Burns. He was a TV fixture at this time.
