Murky potboiler
14 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
THE COYOTE is an Italian sword fighting adventure heavily indebted to the likes of Zorro and his contemporaries. It was shot in Spain with a largely Spanish cast by genre stalwart Mario Caiano. The film is about an ordinary man who becomes annoyed by the corruption he sees taking place in 19th century California, and in the end his annoyance leads him to don a mask and sabre and to take revenge at night. Sadly, this murky potboiler singularly fails to ignite excitement in the part of the viewer, as it's completely predictable in every respect. The bad dubbing makes supposed seriousness amusing, while the action is routine and the story nothing special.
