Review of The Mountain

The Mountain (2012)
7/10
Good Movie a Must See

Warning: Spoilers
Dag The Mountain 2012, shows the harshness of Southern Turkey (Mountains) and Northern Iraq (Mountains) during the near Arctic Winters, that also happen at the 2/3rds Mountains of Afghanistan The Pamir (Roof of the World) and the Hindu Kush (Killer of Hindus).

Like the Movie "The Breath" (Nefes: Vatan Sagolsun) 2009 also a Turkish Movie, Dag depicts the extreme Patriotism within the Turkish Military, regardless of the Out Dated Deadly Conventional Warfare idea of Bases to hold Terrain during Special Warfare as Insurgency Warfare as used by the Majority (Millions) of Kurdistanis of the PKK, HPG, KGK, and Kurdistanis as Allies of Osama Bin Laden, Al Quada, Millions of Afghan Taliban, Muslim Terrorist Organizations as Ansar Al Islam.

Yes, the Turkish Military is as depicted, as we had refresher training with the German (Bundeswehr) Commandos at the German Alps as Mountain Warfare (including Technical Mountain Climbing) followed by more Mountain Warfare Refresher Training with the Turkish Special Forces at Southern Turkey, our "Training" was actually hunting Kurdistanis of the PKK, HPG, KGK, Ansar Al Islam at Southern Turkey under conditions identical to Afghanistan's 2/3rds Mountains before being deployed again to Afghanistan. Previously, we had graduated from the U.S. Army's Mountain Warfare School, and Arctic/Winter Warfare School.

The Effective Devastating Effects of a Sniper using a U.S.S.R. (Russian Federation) SVD 7.62mm x 54mm Sniper Rifle are very accurately depicted in Dag, average range 1600 meters, compared to most U.S. and U.S. Allies 5.56mm x 45mm NATO Standard as 600 Maximum Effective Range (Average Range M16 350 meters, M4 250 meters), as basically the Sniper can shoot at you all Day , while your return fires land Hundreds of Meters too short. Most of the weapons shown in Dag (The Mountain) 2012 are the Turkish Military Version of the previous NATO Standard 7.62mm x 51mm Belgium FAL (Fusil Automatique Leger) Rifle, effective range 600 meters, still 600 meters short of shooting the Sniper equipped with a SVD Sniper Rifle. This is why upon our return to Afghanistan we used the M21 (range 1200 meters) as our Standard Rifle instead of the short range M16 or even shorter range M4, and later on we used the Modern Version of the M21 as the M25 (range 1200 meters), as previously during the previous deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq we carried Enemy Weapons Ak-47 range 800 meters, SVD range 1600 meters, RPG-7 range 800 meters.
