A great atmospheric episode

This episode has virtually everything a perfect episode should have. The concept is nice, production values high, acting top-notch, effects good, plot tragic but with resolution and setting absolutely key. Being set in a comprehensive school in South Wales during a time when mining was still important we see that the strict discipline from a games master which sees two young boys left seemingly alone in school after-hours sets the scene for a great story. Nothing is wasted, nothing is squandered. The dialogue and plot work hand in hand to create a chilling tale. Both young male principal actors create a real sense of belief and seem to feed off of each other. Their dynamism is palpable. The story is sad, with a fitting conclusion. There is genuine pathos created at the climax. A rather great episode.
