Review of Smokings

Smokings (2014)
9/10
Very nice documentary about the Italian brothers who beat the bureaucrats
5 July 2017
The Messina brothers explain the problems of selling cigarettes on the internet. They also point out the hypocrisy of Phillip Morris and the Italian government.

A well-laid out video, it starts with some minor issues and proceeds to a full-blown donnybrook from which the stubborn Messina brothers never back down.

It is my opinion that some of the details could have been spelled out at the beginning for a better understanding of the conflict (and that's why I gave it a 9). As you watch the whole package unravel, however, it becomes clear how the multinationals picked a fight with the local Italian cigarette manufacturers.

I admire the two smokers (and athletes) who started their business and risked their personal fortunes to follow through on their vision. They saw it through despite threats from their banks and lawsuits from American tobacco interests. I'll watch it again and recommend it to my friends.
