What a great performance Matthew Perry gives here. I'm amazed (if not totally surprised) that it hasn't got more attention.
Yes, the accent wanders a little bit, but we're certainly not in Russell Crowe in 'Robin Hood' territory. He brings a lot of himself to the role, and that's what acting should be.
Not only goes Perry show what a good dramatic actor he is (although nice turns in 'West Wing' and 'Studio 60' have shown this previously) but this is a mature and suitably dramatic performance from him. It's right up there with some of the best of his post 'Friends' work, surely? A good episode of an impressive show.
