"Thank You" Nelson Family
16 May 2017
The low-key talent of the series is on amusing display in this 1955 entry. Oz and crew manage to take the slenderest of premises—writing "Thank You" cards for gifts—and turn it into a parade of chuckles. Seems Oz and family talk themselves into writing cards for their X-mas gifts. Trouble is the guys don't know how to compose a proper note, especially Oz who doesn't like the fruitcake Thorny gave him. The dilemma boils down to whether to be truthful or diplomatic since there're reasons for both. Note how effortlessly the boys are brought into the picture. Their banal problem may not sound very amusing. Nonetheless, the dialog and low-key acting turn the unpromising idea into a smoothly entertaining half-hour.

Btw—that's radio stalwart Janet Waldo as the likable salesgirl.
