CON MEN is a talky Scottish drama masquerading as a crime thriller. The story is about a couple of small-time con artists who go after a big target and end up paying the price for their ambition. It's a film with high aspirations despite the low budget, featuring plenty of scene changes and a realistic script for a change, reminiscent of the style of Danny Boyle at times. There are even a few scenes of menace. However, the film is quite slow and talky throughout, lacking the pace and momentum it needs to see it through.
