Resan (1987)
very important film
8 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Mr Watkins opens with expressing that the values held by the filmmakers are anti- nuclear and makes no further apologies for his beliefs. The messages to the absurdity of nuclear arms are clear and precise. The film however is a language unto itself that must be learned, for the meditative, deliberate and slower pace is part of this language. Resan intends to teach us how to watch Resan, and how to read and evaluate information in general. Resan needs to be as long as it is to convey this notion, and should be watched in chapters but ultimately in a few sittings maybe over a rainy weekend to notice the pacing. There are subtle but potent ebbs and flows. It is as epic and complex as the issues he is tackling.
