The Flash: Abra Kadabra (2017)
Season 3, Episode 18
6/10
On this ep of Iris' Do-Nothing, Not-Fast Bodyguard:
28 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
  • opens with plot device Barris out with Joe and Cecile while team flash is working on a little evil speedster problem that's been plaguing them for months

  • New level of Iris shoehorning achieved: Iris suits up to be CSIJulian's surgical assist while plot device CSIBarry stands there. Because.

  • Joe finally gets some spotlight, and of freaking course it's so he could get in on the fail-to-save-Iris storyline.

  • *gasp!* Another look at Iris' death because that will never get O.L.D! /s

  • Didn't take long to saddle Gyspy with relationsip-drama. Poor Cisco, still being haunted by girlfriend's pre-existing lover.

+/- the action/VFx of the entire sequence of FOUR superheroes trying to capture ONE villain: what Armen Kevorkian giveth the writers taketh away

+ Bad@ss: Caitlin for talking Julian through her surgery, and Julian for having to operate on the woman he loves.

+ Caitlin/Julian's doomed love is becoming more interesting than the show's predictable main pairing. I want Julian to have a happy ending, dammit!

+ Caitlin exploding and then coalescing in KF: didn't see that coming.

++ Abra Kadabra was a fun villain, too bad he was drowned out by mewlings about Savitar/save Iris.

----- Barry trying to be "clever" by traveling to the future instead of the past. Past or future, time travel = time travel. Only morons like Barry and team flash thinks it's not the same.

Score: the VFx, Caitlin/KF/Julian and Abra Kadrabra lifts this ep from 3 to 6.
