Good old French atmosphere

Warning: Spoilers
I won't add much to what have said the other users, especially our good friend Dumonteil, the great French cinema specialist to whom I say hello. This Marcel Carne film is entertaining enough to keep any one interest awake during the whole length. Paul Meurisse is exquisite, as usual, Jean Richard very amusing in his butcher character, and of course Roland Lesaffre whom you can't miss in any Marcel Carné's feature, at least for the second part of his career; after all, Lesaffre was very well known to be Marcel Carné's boy friend... But there is one thing for which I want to warn the audiences, that's the end. SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

When you see Dany Saval throw the briefcase away, from the bridge into the river, believing that's the empty briefcase, don't forget that, a few minutes earlier in the movie, Paul Meurisse's character put the loot into this briefcase...That's just the twist ending. So, to fully understand and enjoy it, you have to be very careful to this scene, with Meurisse and the briefcase.
