The most intense episode of Season One. Raynard continues to haunt Harry. He poses the body of a prostitute in a dumpster to recreate the scene of Bosch's mother's death. It's obvious the maniac is setting things up for a final confrontation. Waits is building a monument. In order to get Harry to confront him, he kidnaps a young mother, leaving her six-month-old child on a boulevard. Of course, the politics continue. Bosch's chief is weenie. He is incompetent, unimaginative, and vengeful. The final scene of this episode is well orchestrated with great tension and drama. The stereotype, however, of the loner who forges ahead despite bureaucracy and jealousy, does go on. But Welliver's performance once again trumps that stereotype.
