Review of Fitoor

Fitoor (2016)
5/10
Pretentious way of storytelling
1 August 2016
Fitoor is based on Charles Dickens "The Great Expectations" which focuses on 2 lovebirds from different statuses, Pip and Estella. Although I haven't read the book but I did a lot of research and according to my research, nothing in the movie had anything to do with Dicken's book. Below average screenplay with lack of narratives. Abhishek Kapoor failed in the aspect of making a romantic film although I liked Rock On and Kai Po Che. Dialogues were very cheesy especially when they were said by Adi such as "Doodh mangoge toh kheer deynge, Kashmir mangoge, toh cheer deynge". I completely didn't understand what he meant by that statement when confessing his love to Firdaus. There are minor positives in the film such as the cinematography work done by Anay Goswamy. I liked the camera-work he did for Kashmir and the way he shot it. Amit Trivedi managed to deliver good songs for this movie as well as the background score. Overall, this movie wasted potential with a flat script and terrible acting done by Adi and Kaif despite the good cinematography and music. I would recommend you that this is not a good way of spending Valentines Day at the cinemas.
