The Flash: Versus Zoom (2016) Season 2, Episode 18

This is what we waited 3 weeks for...

Contrivances:

Iris:

• there for the tachyon test run just so she can tell Barry she's going on a date with her boss.

• shows up at StarLabs with Joe to help. By talking about herself and holding an iPad.

• talks about love/destiny to a woman who lost her love 3 times (4 if you count E2) and was betrayed by the next guy she fell for.

• finally thinking about hooking up with Barry because...this happened in another future and in another universe.

• always at Chez West Allen but not actually living there.

• not leaving with Wally because they really needed her to hold a gun on Zoom.

Others:

• Barry traveled to Supergirl's Earth on his tachyon-enhanced power but this was dropped on The Flash. Why? To prop up Cisco's arc towards Vibe.

• Harry not recognizing Zolomon because of long hair and beard.

• A superhero keeping his word to a murderous villain is more important than stopping him with lies. Which leads us to...

• Barry's stupidity and his ability to convince everyone to help him with said stupidity are his real superpowers.

Lost in the bad writing:

• Parallel between Zolomon and Barry.

• Joe and Wally getting closer to full father-son relationship.

• Caitlin using her emotional pain to save Barry from Zoom.

• The convo between Cisco and Barry about keeping Cisco from the dark side was very much like the deleted StarLabsBros forevah convo in the season finale.

• A chance they haven't really shitted all over Jay Garrick the Original Flash.

For these specks of goodness in a mountain of contrived crap: score 7.3
