What Happened to Frederick isn't excellent, but it does a great job going into how Kathryn and David are connected to Prince Charming and Princess Abigail in the Enchanted Forest while giving the character of August W. Booth some connection to everything that's happened before Emma came to Storybrooke.
Yes, some of the dialog is a bit weak this time around and the script is average, but everything else turned out fine. The performances are still good, the pacing is fine, the music score is still beautiful, the directing is nice, and the editing is sharp too. So, overall, not great, but another good episode for Season 1.
