"Mary Last Seen" is a 6-year-old live action short film that runs for 14 minutes and precedes the action in "Martha Marcy May Marlene". So the writer and director is obviously Sean Durkin, who has had a bit of a breakthrough after this was made. Sadly, I cannot say this short film here inspired me to check out the full feature movie he made afterward starring Elizabeth Olsen. I am a bit surprised this got a decent share of awards attention, especially at such a prestigious event like Cannes. Maybe they liked the graphic sex scene? I guess many people do. But this and the okay atmospheric touch are not enough for me to recommend this one. Thumbs down.
