Review of Duck Amuck

Duck Amuck (1953)
9/10
Daffy at Wit's End

There are numerous animated features where the artist takes over the scene, forcing his character to deal with the consequences. In this one, the irrepressible Daffy Duck finds himself in no-duck's land at the whim of an animator. He goes from barnyard, to frozen tundra, to jungle. His character's dress changes. He is erased time after time and put in ridiculous poses. The fun is that he is in a perpetual argument with whomever puts pen to paper. The music and total craziness works wonderfully. Chuck Jones was the master and Mel Blanc the tool that put it all together. This is a fine example of those cartoons that we old folks used to get to see before a feature film. One of the best.
