Gracious Good Performances....
22 November 2015
Paul Weitz had me with About A Boy in 2003. Even the great Lily Tomlin who plays the title role said at a Q and A I attended that she knew he would take good care of her because she had seen it and liked it.

Good character for Lily and she never coasts. Surprising scenes with Sam Elliott. They were fierce and maybe kind of sexy together. The granddaughter Sage played by Julia Garner was a proper foil for Lily and her mother Marsha Gay Harden, kind of a comic jewel of a performance. I liked Elizabeth Pena and even got a laugh out of Colleen Camp never getting her hot sauce.

Judy Greer was a relaxed much younger ex lover of Lily's character Elle. So good, Judy Greer in everything she does. And Nat Wolff hid all his intelligence and style to play the annoying dense clueless ex boyfriend of Sage.

Nice to see a movie made with love and care. And talent.
