Rick and Morty: The Wedding Squanchers (2015)
Season 2, Episode 10

Rick and Morty's red wedding.
4 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The only thing missing was the Rains of Castamere. Honestly, by now I should have learnt that weddings in TV shows never go well. Yet still I am surprised. Given the quiet nature of last season's finale, I expected this to be a fairly uneventful episode. Boy was I wrong.

The first half of the episode focuses on the wedding of Birdman and Summer's friend. This half was slow, but ended in a big, shocking sequence. Rick, Morty, and the family then find themselves on the run in the aftermath of the wedding. They are forced to search for a new home, leading to some very funny gags. The planet where everything is on a cob was one of my favourite concepts in the show, and that's saying something.

Then, it ends on a very sad and epic cliffhanger. It really fits with the way they've been developing the characters throughout the season. Overall, season 2 managed to balance a plethora of excellent new concepts and gags with deeper, more fleshed-out character development. Despite having the first weak episode of the series (inter-dimensional cable 2), Season 2 held up to the standard set by the first season and even surpassed it. I can't wait for Season 3.
