Review of Copetin

Copetin (2014)
10/10
Brilliant noir short from Argentina
11 June 2015
Like the great Argentine writer Julio Cortazar once said comparing literature to boxing (of all things!) "with a novel the author must win the reader by points; with a short story he must win by knock-out". That is precisely what the writer-director Kullock has achieved with Copetin. The story is tight and full-fledged, even within the strict time limits, and delivers at the end an effective knock-out punch. It is very professionally filmed and produced, and the overall quality and consistency of its noir atmosphere rest on two strong pillars: a fluent editing and the superb photography. Leaves you hoping to see a feature length film by the same team.
