A Terrific Character Driven Film
30 May 2015
The Last Treasure Hunt is a wonderfully engaging drama about a brother, Oliver(Casey Nelson), and his sister Lucy (Kate Murdoch), who meet at the family home after the sudden death of their father. Casey and Kate also wrote the screenplay and they have great on screen chemistry.

Oliver is about to be a father with his girlfriend Susan, an excellent Kandis Erickson. The two have a book store which is not doing well - they are facing eviction.

Lucy is a free spirit who is the opposite of Oliver in most every way. To bring the two closer together, the father has requested in his will that the siblings finish a treasure hunt that he prepared for them.

As Oliver and Lucy work their way through the clues in an attempt to finish the hunt, and receive their inheritance, we are treated to some wonderful moments of sibling rivalry that spring to life thanks to the excellent script and acting.

There are moments of comedy thanks to Jeff Grace, who plays the somewhat eccentric photographer cousin, and some sentimental scenes with the father's best friend Gary, played by Charles Hoyes.

The locations on the east coast are beautiful, the musical soundtrack is a treat, and the direction by Patrick Biesemans is engaging. For those looking for an adult drama with top-notch acting and a fine script, The Last Treasure Hunt does not disappoint.
