Victor Salva's work, in my eyes, is always refreshing. There is something about the way he tells a tale that remains intriguing. He is nothing short of a master at the horror genre, delivering new spins on tired tropes.
Dark House surprised me. I went in not knowing what to expect in every room presented to me, and when I left the house, I was completely satisfied with all the secrets that I didn't see coming.
I can't really say anything bad about the film because it is what it is and it deserves more than one viewing, so perhaps one day I'll be sure to revisit the Dark House, but this time I will take some friends with me, because yes, at times, the rooms inside were a little too frightening to be explored alone.
