Early Marta and Talking Gustav

This was made in the last year of the Wiemar period and 6 years before Martha would flee Europe to America, right after the Ausschlag.This is a romantic musical Comedy that involves ,Gustav Frohlich, of Metropolis fame as the spoiled Lady loving Peter Frank, who is a director ,with his Uncle Adolph's,played by Fritz Grunbaum,who runs Superphone records.His Uncle feels he should settle down with fellow worker Asta, played by Gretl Theimer , who is being persuaded by Anton Pointer ,who plays competitor to Superphone to drop Gustave for him.After checking one of their record shops,Gustav falls for one of the record sales girls,Played by Martha.He pretends not to be the director and has fellow Assistance,played by Tibor Halmy fired .so Peter can get to know Marta better and attempts to seduce her.Later the Uncle tells her that he is already engaged to Gretl.The next day he finds out ,Gustave , that she had quit .Attempting to get an audition at the theater,Martha ends up becoming a stage star under a false name Yola D,Vaire.Gustave discover that she got a job at the theater ,but ,lies to him that she's just a secretary for Yola.Frank and Gretl break off the engagement.In the theater ,as Gustav is waiting for Martha,that's when he discovers that she Yola D,Vaire .Tibor ends up in the theater too doing and dance number ,after he had becomes franks Secretary .Well Frank buys all the tickets up so he can persuade her to marry him.In the theater scene ,before Martha goes on the stage,the interaction between Frank and his uncle is shot in silence and in mime ,for some reason.Never less this is one of the best German Musical before Germany would flat on it's face.04/12/15
