Review of 1915

1915 (1982)
4/10
Better acting would have ONLY raised it to a time-waster

Warning: Spoilers
This 7 episode series started out quite well.....the usual friends off to war type but with some promise. The 2 male leads are worlds apart....unfortunately in character AND acting ability. Billy is up for his part and does a good job playing the moral-free wastrel....his fellow actor, and on screen sometimes buddy, Walter is played very woodenly and emotionless and when SOME emotion is required.....death of a wartime comrade for example...he makes it look as overactingly convincing as the tragic loss of a pet rock. Equally the female lead, the character Helen is SO amateurishly played that her winsome gazes off to nowhere harken back to the silent screen productions of the early years and I found myself waiting for the theatre organ to fill in with some dramatic music. The other female however, is VERY well acted and is both believable and appealing. All in all, thanks, in my opinion to poor casting choices, what could have been a nice little mini series ends up looking like amateur night in the outback. Not even a time waster
