Some park ranger literally almost runs into Jannicke, the sole survivor right after the events of part I. She passes out in the middle of the road so he takes her and the ice pick she's holding to the hospital. He's the boyfriend of one of the nurses there. There's another nurse and one dr. and only 2 patients, a boy and an old woman.
Eventually the cops arrive to interview her and are a bit doubtful about her story. Nevertheless they send a team to the ice cave and they drag out the bodies of the victims and of the killer and take them to the hospital. And wouldn't you know, 30 minutes into the movie, the dead killer shows signs of life so he's resurrected by the medical team. Jannicke tries to stop them to no avail. Instead she's put in restrains. But for some reason they never gave her drugs to knock her out. Previously she had nightmares and visions and even visited the bodies of her friends in the morgue.
Now with the killer on the lose, off course he turns the light off and starts taking people out. The main cop meanwhile starts to investigate the killer. He saw the birthmark on his face and it looked familiar to him. There are also plenty of cold cases of missing people in the area so he sends his people back to the cave and they find countless bodies. Now he believes Jannicke and makes it to the hospital as the killer is about to run out of people to kill. The cops mount an operation to take the killer out. It doesn't go well. That forces Jannicke to take matters into her own hand. Back she goes to the hotel of part I in the hopes of running into the killer. He doesn't disappoint.
Cold Prey 2 is more polished than part 1. It has better characters and an excellent direction. The setting of a hospital is better until it gets dark. But it's not good enough. If you are filming a movie out in the country in Norway why not show some of it. And what a difference it makes when we finally get to go outside during the day in sunlight in the final scenes. A problem for me is that Jannicke doesn't make that good a lead. I kept hoping the killer would gut her. In good world-wide media establishment fashion, the men in this movie are completely useless and the women are the tough and smart heroines. Cold Prey 2 is a competent slasher that still could have been improved some more.
