If you're trying to map this to the actual life of Jimi you are missing the point of the film. It's about the man. The arc of his fame and the women he was with. Sure, the family didn't authorize the use of Jimi's music, it actually makes the film stronger. It is a glimpse into the soul of a star child. Don't get hung up on the facts, it is "based" on a true story. It's a beautiful film.

Andre does his character proud. He obviously studied Jimi's speech patterns and I really felt I was hearing his wild far out ideas. He was tripping in real life and in this movie we get a taste of where it came from. Good music movie. It's not supposed to be a bio pic.
