As an American living in Montreal between 2000 and 2003, I was fortunate enough to be able to follow this show in Canada. The previous reviews give a good description of the story lines and relationships between each of the characters which are portrayed with a truly touching human sensitivity.
But another reason, I was so drawn to this show was because of the music and the continual integration of the entire environment of the city of Montreal. These images were seamlessly woven into the story lines so beautifully and naturally. When you watch this show, you have the feeling of living in Montreal with your friends and experiencing all the richness of this complex and wonderful city. You travel across the city's unique neighborhoods, as well as downtown, and to the top of Mont Royal. It is truly mesmerizing and always awakens my own experiences of living there. I have never seen another series in either the USA or Canada do a better job of bringing a location truly alive.
