The World is Still Beautiful

Warning: Spoilers
Protagonist Nike, the fourth princess of the Rain Dukedom must go to the Sun Kingdom as a marriage has been arranged for her and Levi; the King. She is not too keen but as it is her duty she goes. When she gets there things don't start well and it looks like they will get worse when she learns that he is still a child! Nike has a skill that is much valued in the kingdom; she can sing a song to summon rain; this and her engaging personality makes her popular with the people of the Sun Kingdom. Not everybody wants her to stay there though and this puts her in some danger sometimes from people she thinks she can trust. At first it doesn't look as if Nike and Levi will get on but as the series progresses they grow closer.

This series was rather enjoyable; it had the right blend of drama and humour and lacked the excessive fan service that is found in so many series these days… probably because it is based on a shoujo manga. The characters were engaging; especially protagonist Nike who provides a good, strong female lead. The age difference between Nike and Levi could have been rather creepy but their relationship was shown to be chaste with no unpleasant suggestiveness. When I first heard Nike's rain song I thought it was a bit twee but as it was repeated it started to grow on me. The animation and character designs are decent. Overall I'd say this was a fun series than can be enjoyed by just about anybody.

These comments are based on watching the series in Japanese with English subtitles.
