Review of Flatline

Flatline (2010)
4/10
Immature young adult gone mad

Warning: Spoilers
I gave this a four because it's not the worst movie I've ever seen. The main actor who portrays Marc isn't a bad actor but does seem to be green. His facial expressions were grotesque in my mind. My biggest peeve is when actors are portraying someone grieving over the top and they make all the grimaces and sounds but they have no tears. Don't cast an actor who does not have the spontaneous ability to shed tears on cue. It's obvious and generally turns me off to the movie. I don't know about the spiritual side because it was just in a list of movies offered. I could care less about anyone's personal views of their faith and preaching here. I couldn't detect religion having any bearing except a phrase here or there. I watch a lot of movies but I have to say, this one is difficult to watch and I don't think it's the writer or the story that they are trying to tell. I believe it was miscast. Flashback films seem to be in vogue right now so I don't blame anyone for those being in the film. At least it shows the boy had a pretty good relationship with his father and was going through long term grief over the death of his mother and now his father. He couldn't accept it and went over the edge. I don't know what it is but there is something that isn't very appealing about this movie.
