Review of Phone

Phone (1993)
8/10
Weird and Wild
10 March 2014
Based on a prank phone call from counter-culture journalist Jim Hogshire, this all-star cast (including Bill Pullman and Linda Blair) acts out a single phone call that goes in a very odd direction.

I was not familiar with the name Tim Pope before seeing this, but now I sort of want to seek his work out. This short film was dark and edgy, always verging on the edge of sex and violence without ever going all the way over. I cannot recall a phone call having such suspense.

There is also a bit of nostalgia attached to this film, as the people are using a cord phone. Few of us even have land lines anymore, and this is a nice reminder of how things were not so long ago...
