Janis et John (2003)

Warning: Spoilers
If there were a prize for the most tasteless comedy film of the year 2003, such award would go to Janis et John. Jesus Christ, that was bad. And despite having a somewhat interesting theme, it basically fails developing it.

The most interesting fact in the film BY FAR is that it seems to be a homage to David Fincher's Fight Club, notably one of my favorite films. It's easy to realize the obvious references to it in this film. For example, the initial sequence of the film utilizes the same narrative of FC(the explanations about the protagonist and his thoughts in fast paced scenes), the job is the same, and even the cinematography and the credits song 'Where is my Mind' by Pixies appears in the film.

OK, there is more in the film than references to FC. But very little,of course. The story itself is not that convincing. The internal logic isn't that great. The actors were mostly bad or if lucky below- average, except maybe for the protagonist. Also, the film missed a few points, i mean , few important points, such as the lack of explanations about what happened to the guy who played 'John Lennon'. And what happened to the mad/high cousin of the protagonist, as well. We don't have any idea of that in the end of the film. And what kind of resolution was that between the protagonist and the old men which wanted his money? And why he did enter in the house? Anyways, a few points which don't makes any sense to me.

Yes, it's not worth of a watch. 4.0/10
