Eye Myth (1977)

Indeed an eye myth

Warning: Spoilers
This is another short from Norwegian director Stan Brakhage's body of work. He made this one is his mid-30s, when his style and way of movie-making were already clearly established and right from the start when you see the title "Eye Myth" written in the most unique manner, you realize this is gonna be something different. Eye Myth only lasts a couple seconds and it forces you to rewatch it a couple more times (or watch it in slow-motion) until you finally find some kind of essence in it. It's as colorful as every Brakhage short film and I wonder where he took the creativity for all his works.

This films starts all white before the Brakhage routine begins. We see a rock guitar player at the beginning for example and a lot more later on. It's a good start for viewers interested in Brakhage, because after these ten seconds you already know very precisely if you want to see more by the man or not.
