A Different Take On A Common Sci-Fi/Fantasy Theme.
26 August 2013
It seems that every series with a sci-fi and/or fantastical basis has a 'Tabula Rasa' type of episode, often with that very title, as here.

Where this episode differs from other shows' interpretations is in not playing it for laughs by homing in on the changed dynamics between characters, as usually seems to be the case. There are the odd comic moments but they're very brief and light. Instead, this version of the subject uses a more 'realistic' focus - how frightening and disorienting it must be to find yourself in that situation.

The cause and the cure for the problem are similarly 'realistic' and simple, given the premise for the show.

These points lift the episode from being too similar from the treatments of the idea that we've seen so often before, and therefore very watchable.
