Am I The Only One That Was Disappointed?

Warning: Spoilers
MAN OF STEEL was kind of weak to me. I was so bored! Now the action was dope. A lot of great, ground breaking fight scenes, awesome visual effects, CGI, and imagery used throughout the entire movie but I couldn't really enjoy it because they was just a lack of story. No character development and the flashbacks got annoying after a while. DC Universe just has one- dimensional characters. Superman's story is just a whack one to me. It seemed like his parents were the bad guys in my opinion. You throw away 100,000 years of intergalactic evolution all because Superman's parents wanted to have a baby the "natural way" and now your son is more important than letting General Zod use the Kodex to save an entire population?! I just didn't get it. Maybe my boredom made me miss some key points. The entire film was just so rushed to me. I'm sure most Superman fans will enjoy because it was definitely much better than Superman Returns but as overall film, DC Universe can't touch Marvel on their best day.

I do think that Henry Caville was the best choice to be cast as Clark Kent. He definitely embodies all that Superman is and can be. I definitely believed him. I wouldn't have cast Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Also, how can you have a Superman origins story without introducing Lex Luthor at all! If they make a sequel and use Lex (which you will have to because he's a big part of the entire universe) how are you going to explain his absence in "Man OF Steel" it just makes no damn sense. He wasn't even in a flashback in Superman's childhood. If they decide to change his and Clark's relationship and backstory in the sequel, they will make a lot of Superman fans very, very, very upset. Also, the death of Superman's human father was just so natural to me. You have a son who has super strength, super speed, laser vision, indestructible so why would you tell him not to save the dog during a tornado and you do it yourself. The entire town already knows he has special abilities so that's not really a problem. Yet, you hold up your hand for about six seconds, telling him to not save you, when he could have been in and out in about three seconds. That was so laughable to me and Clark's explanation as to why he didn't was even worse.

If that is how Clark's father died in the actual DC storyline, then no wonder I've never been a fan. Michael Shannon did a great job as General Zod. He was my favorite character. But I do have a secret love for villains with a true purpose.

Disclaimer: no Superhero should ever wear a cape. They're a distraction and so very useless and could possibly get you killed or seriously injured in battle. Example when Superman tried to fly away from the two villains he was fighting in that small town. He almost got away but the Big Dude grabbed his cape and threw him around a bit more, point proved right?! I'm not going to say don't see this movie because the amazing action sequences might cause people to overlook the many flaws in this film, so just go see for yourself. I hope you enjoy it more than I did.
