About a man's love for his dog
6 April 2013
For anyone who loves dogs, this is a must see. It is both hilarious and tragic.

The movie is narrated by the daughter who is reflecting on growing up in a small suburban house with her mother, a French woman, and her father, an English long-haul truck driver, and her father's German Shepherd, "Prince".

The father found Prince in a bag with other dead pups during a trip to Cornwall. He rescued the only living pup, Prince, and brought him home where he grew into a very large dog who was fiercely protective of the father and accompanied him everywhere - except on some long trips when Prince stayed at home and terrorised the mother and daughter.

There is an hilarious scene where Sean Bean takes Prince to the local Pub and meets up with a mate who has brought his Doberman. While they are drinking, the two male dogs "hump" on the lawn and a brawl ensues over which man owns the "gay" dog.

I have seen it on TV a couple of times but would love to see it again.

An absolute all-time favourite of mine.

I wonder if it is available on DVD? Does anyone know?

I can really relate to it as I recently lost my 14-year-old Labrador who, like Prince, went everywhere with me for more than a decade.
