Given the subject matter of this film, I think that it could have been much better. I felt that the script lagged in certain places making the narrative boring.

The actor who played the role of Gandhi was miscast. He did not do justice to the role and did not bring forth the correct emotional depth that was required for the role. Shefali Shah was average as Kastur. Akshay Khanna was brilliant as Harilal Gandhi carrying the majority of the film on his shoulders.

Cinematography was brilliant. Set design and costumes were adequate, capturing the essence of the period that the movie is set in.

On a whole this movie seemed flat in places. It is interesting from a historical point of view but that's where it ends. Gandhi My Father is an average movie that could have been better given better acting, screen writing and directing.
