Season 15, Episode 10
7/10
Enjoyable if far-fetched mystery

Warning: Spoilers
When a child killer dies in his cell in Redhill prison it is quickly written off as a heart attack however when the woman who was leading an investigation into activities in the prison is killed the possibility that he was murdered is raised by the man's sister. The situation is somewhat complicated because the woman died in Leo's arms and the police officer in charge of investigating her killing had previously been involved with one of the Redhill prison guards and evidence suggests that one of them may have been involved in the murder. It is made clear early on that at least one of the guards is involved with smuggling drugs into the prison.

While I did enjoy this the opening seemed highly unlikely; first we have Leo finding the dying woman while out for a late night drive; then he and Nikki do a bit of investigating on their own and go to the woman's house where they find another dead man… surely that was police work and they risked contaminating the scene. It also seems unlikely that the DI would have kept herself on the case when she realised killer could be a guard at the prison a former colleague worked at… especially given their prior relationship and the fact that she had witnessed him committing a serious crime and helped cover it up! Still sometimes flaws lead to an interesting story... and as things got more unlikely in the second episode the show became even more exciting! There were a few grisly scenes but nothing fans of the series won't be used to. Leo Gregory was suitable unpleasant as prison guard Daniel Kessler… a character so unpleasant that I was tempted to right him off as a suspect on the grounds that it would be too obvious! Gillian Kearney was fine as DI Bridges although her character did seem a bit too timid to be a senior police officer; some justification was given for this though.
