Horror Effects Hosted by Tom Savini (2008)

This thing was shot sometime in the late 80s and features John A. Russo sitting down with Tom Savini and interviewing him in his studio. The end result certainly isn't as good as one would hope but I think die-hard fans of Savini will still want to check it out if just for some of the behind-the-scenes stuff. Savini talks about some of his favorite creations including his work on Tales from the Darkside and he also talks about "Fluffy" from CREEPSHOW. We also get some footage of work on the set of CREEPSHOW where they are trying to get the skeleton at the window to work and Savini talks about how that was done. Other topics include TILL DEATH DO WE SCARE, doing stunts on THE BURNING, a Grandpa joke from Texas CHAINSAW MASSACRE 2 and he also mentions that he's about to start work on a film called TWO EVIL EYES. Russo certainly isn't much of an interviewer but I think the main purpose of this was to get into talk about their film together, HEARTSTOPPER. We get all sorts of clips from that movie and several stories. The most disappointing thing is that we don't get to see enough actual work that Savini has done on all of these films. There are several stories told but there's no question that more visual stuff is needed.
