K.C Bokadia is one filmmaker that has always managed to disappoint in filmmaking. His films like Aaj Ka Arjun(1990), Kundan(1991) Insaniyat Ke Devta(1993), Shaktiman(1993), Lal Baadshah(1999) have failed to create an impact critically and commercially. Maidaan E Jung is another one of his crass action films. This movie contains lots and lots of typical melodrama which is extremely irritating. The villains are extremely crude and unrealistic. The action is typically overdone in B Grade style. This is one B Grade flick that can be avoided, this is what the public did in 1995 when this trash released and bombed at the box office.

The film tells the story of sinister and evil Amrish Puri who controls the lives of the innocent villagers. The villagers are upset and they are forced to believe that Amrish Puri is their leader and they must be his slave. Dharmendra is the main hero and he is first loyal but later against Amrish Puri. He saves Jaya Prada from getting molested by Gulshan Grover(Amrish's son) and marries her. Akshay Kumar is completely wasted in this movie, he is just used to fight the villains and dance in the pathetic songs of the film. Dina Pathak who usually has a larger role to play the grandmother is used to just offer some melodrama in the film. Dharmendra attacks and finally after lots of nonsense, wins the battle against the evil Amrish Puri.

The script is so lousy that it feels like some 4 year old child wrote it. The main story is typical but horribly handled, the whole concept of revenge is dragged by useless comedy and songs, and this becomes a pain to watch. Direction by K.C Bokadia is awful and this makes his earlier films(also crappy) look good. This is his worst film till date and Lal Baadshah was somewhat better than this. There is no proper flow in the film and it becomes irritating to watch a movie with no proper story. If not the story, people might think the performances will impress? The people are completely wrong if they are in this impression.

Veteran actor Dharmendra is wasted in a typical action hero role. He speaks in the same drunk style delivering dialogs, his expressions are alright making his performance fairly OK. Akshay Kumar is wasted and his role is small, he is just there to fight and save his love from getting molested and sing songs with her. I don't understand why Akshay would choose this film and this is again another wrong choice by him. Manoj Kumar is wasted in a pathetic role that lacks potential. Karishma Kapoor is the typical heroine who is only used in songs and scenes where she has the hero that he is wrong. Amrish Puri is average and his villain act is weak here. At least he doesn't overact but this is nothing compared to his Mogambo Khush Hua act. Gulshan Grover irritates as the crude son of the evil villain. Overall, the performances disappoint.

On the whole, Maaidan E Jung is a crass B Grade film which fails from every aspect. If you want to watch a couple of awful action scenes in a typical good vs. evil movie set in a village, this is your cup of tea.
