For me, it was tough imagining that the gruff character of Emerson would even have a mother--I'd imagined he'd shot her on one of his cases. However, here you learn that she, too, is a private detective and Emerson grew up as her partner! They both are called into a case involving a murdered escort. Now I am NOT talking about an 'escort' in the sexual sense but for a strange company that provides paid friendship--nice, chipper people who seem like perfect friends...except that they are paid. It seems someone killed the guy but his briefly revived corpse doesn't know who did it. But here's the odd part, after killing them it looks as if the killer then tried to preserve the body...home-made style! Pretty weird. But what also is weird is that Emerson's mother doesn't know his secret shame...as he's been hiding it from her. Also what's weird is how suddenly chummy Olive and Chuck have begun! Overall, not a great episode though not a bad one either. It has the usual quirkiness, odd set design and bizarre twists--but didn't quite make me laugh as much as some of the very best ones.
