Clark must enter the mind and memories of Lex in order to find out where Kara and Lois have disappeared to. This is a more surreal episode than we usually see from Smallville. It's essentially an examination of Lex's psyche, with extreme versions of an evil Lex and a young "good" Lex portrayed as characters inside of Lex's mind. Just like in season 3's "Memoria" and season 6's "Reunion" the flashback scenes involving young Lex are dramatic and very effective, particularly the scenes between young Lex and Lionel. "fracture" at times feels more like an episode of Torchwood than Smallville, and the episode is much darker than the rest of the season, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. One just shouldn't expect a fun action story.
