Hmm...This film had received such a lot of acclaim, I really wanted to follow suit and love it too.
No doubt, it has some quotable gaffs - and the roguish Guy Richie-esquire characters certainly entertain - but I didn't even begin to engage in what turned out to be a thoroughly lukewarm bit of storytelling. The thing is, 'In Bruges' really WANTS to have charm. And it desperately wants to bear the chicness of finer British classics. I feel it fails on both accounts.
Give it a rent if you're bored one night. But don't expect to emerge bedazzled, as some would have you believe.
