This is great television!

Warning: Spoilers
I found NCIS late - 6 years into its run - while watching reruns on cable. It is not the perfect way to watch a show that connects episodes together as sometime the episodes are out of sequence and seasons are mixed with other seasons.

With that said, Judgement Day episodes 1 and 2 were run back to back and are among the most enjoyable episodes of any series I have ever watched. I had watched long enough to know all the characters at this point so I was invested in their relationships and loved their idiosyncrasies.

So to see the death of a major character, the details related to that death (and the possible reasons for this character putting themselves into this situation) and the richness of the characters surrounding the storyline was just fascinating to watch. The writing is spare and clean. The emotions and reactions to the twists and turns in these episodes are genuinely felt.

Gibbs discovery that a person close to him in NCIS has done something against all he believes followed by the death mentioned above followed by the grieving (or not in Gibb's case) followed by the ending that seems to bring our group of characters to dissolution makes you want to come back for more.
