Corny, Cliché...Comfprting, Classy & Compelling
9 January 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's because I'm so close to the subject matter of being a "Last Chance Harvey" myself. But I disagree strongly with the low ratings this movie has received. Corny, Cliché, yes. But the acting by Dustin Hoffman and Emma Thompson is so compelling you really don't care.

The plot could have been written by a junior high school student. No surprises at all. But for some reason, like a Mac computer, "it just works.".

In fact, it works so well that you'll find yourself drawn in in spite of yourself.

This is the movie version of a comforting cup of hot cocoa and a blanket. Ytite, but timeless and heartwarming, a combination, like Hoffman & Thompson, who can't help but make you want more.
