Forget about the lousy lead, forget about the very easy solutions, forget about some nice characters that the movie didn't utilize at all, and forget about the name of (Leslie Nielsen) in the credits (or his picture on the poster as if he's the main lead of it!). Because if you forget already about all of that, you'll going to have a fun time.. Almost a fun time!
The thing to hate here, and I mean really hate, is (Joseph Vitarelli)'s poor music score, OH MY GOD what a real PAIN. At the climactic sequence, it was the same annoying tune repeating and repeating endlessly and sickeningly in a way that could make you nuts!
Extra provocative matters: I don't know why the Gothic make-up for the little girl. Her father's camera captured the whole event of framing the lead in full details like it's directed by the actual movie director. Or the video photography during the cinematic one as always disturbing and out of mood. It seems needless to mention that I saw the mike's shadow too obvious on one scene.. But that's the cruelty of it!
However, there are some good touches along the way: the running gag of the loose vacuum cleaner, the moments of (Nielsen), the idea of the evil lady's falling in a gas pipe, or even the funny mime. But still very few touches. Because this movie just lacks and lacks a lot to be as what it wants.
It's one movie for children, (Weird Al' Yankovic)'s nice cameo summarizes it all. But I don't think that its makers took this mission seriously enough or thought about these very children, that they made the movie for, to give them something truly solid and enjoyable.
