An look into the Taiwanese film industry and one man's personal growth...
26 October 2008
The movie is a fairly simple story of the main character Doze trying to gain funding for what he thinks will be the next mockumentary blockbuster and how the personal problems, quirks, and issues that the people involved keep that from happening in the way that it should.

The movie covers the poor relationship with his girlfriend, the film industry's system of favors, as well as Doze's personal issues that are at the center of the story and keep him from developing as person.

All of this, while being a self-examination on happiness and unhappiness and whether or not we're in control if it all.

As a viewer I had sympathy for the characters as most of them are just trying to find their way and are identifiable as well as human. It is hard to find characters like that in modern movies, though the film leads the viewer to believe the actors aren't playing characters, but are playing themselves and the movie we're watching is actually the movie Doze's is making.

In that respect, it is interesting that the movie ties the viewer as well as the filmmaker and cast to the concept of the search for happiness in a similar manner.
