Fun, but still a disappointment

Warning: Spoilers
Recap: Morgan Pålsson is not the brightest person alive. And he is a lousy journalist. But he is loyal to his boss and somehow manages to keep his job (along with his delusions of greatness). So, managers at SVT send him to Maboto (a obscure country no one ever heard of) just to get rid of him. Unfortunately, just a day after Morgan arrives there is a coup with connections to international terrorism. Instead of getting swept under the carpet, Morgan suddenly finds himself at the eye of the hurricane. If everybody would just stop shooting...

Comments: A spin off of a character from funny TV-show HippHipp! this movie suffers severely from an affliction that many such movies suffer from. There is just not enough material, there is not depth enough. Yes, a few scenes are funny, really funny. But when the same joke, same style (i.e. the stupidity of Morgan) is used throughout the movie it just becomes tiresome. So what is a success in parts of a show, is not so much as a independent movie.

However, in average it is not a bad movie. It is fun movie, there are some good laughs and you will be content if you do not expect more. This is not God's gift to comedy and too high expectations will kill it. It does well for a slow evening, but not very much more...
